Open Source Design Resources

web guide: Growing list of open source design resources by Iryna from Jolocom Logbook, 11/26/19

Coming out of a live event in Berlin, Germany called DWebDesign #3, this is a great introduction for digital designers interested in learning more about open source. Especially helpful was the explanation of "itch-to-scratch" as the developer-centered way software is built along with the favored approach of a bazaar vs. a cathedral. This can be very different from design which is often user-centered and more holistic. There are also deep links to resources in OpenSourceDesign.net, a community connecting designers to open source ideas and projects.

The site runs on Backdrop, is hosted by MayFirst, uses the Lateral theme and features the Grotesk font face from Velvetyne open source type foundry.
Top illustration by Paul Lehr. Mail list runs on mailchimp because we currently don't have the capacity to make something else work. :-/
